Important celebrations, such as their famous 15 days of carnivals in February, include groups, bands of street musicians, jokers and satiric song groups.
Important celebrations, such as their famous 15-day Carnival in February, include bands of street musicians, jokers and song groups satirising social and political events at local and national level. The islanders also place the greatest importance on events during March or April leading up to a remarkable display at Easter. Among others, the other highly significant event is the seafarers’ "Feria del Carmen", which takes place in mid July. In October, there are two great events in the calendar: for the past 14 years, there is the "Festival Coral del Atlántico" (Atlantic Choral Festival) which attracts important Spanish and world-wide choral groups, and also the "Festival de Cine Inédito" (Unedited Cinema Festival), celebrated in the tourist complex of Islantilla, which Isla Cristina shares with Lepe.
