Lepe’s Beaches

The beaches in Lepe extend for 8 kilometres of fine, golden sand with clean and clear waters basking in 3,000 hours of sun a year. The coast within Lepe's municipal district is rich and diverse. When the tide recedes, it is more than enjoyable to go for a long walk.

The coast within Lepe's municipal district is rich and diverse, with a variety of ecosystems including dunes, beaches, salt marshes and estuaries. La Antilla, the main beach, preserves its family character, golden sand and clean, clear waters. Among the dunes vegetation and in the pine groves, you might just spot one of the chameleons, which are in danger of extinction.

Nueva Umbria Beach
Nueva Umbria Beach is a long sand-spit surrounded with water on both sides. On the one side is the sea and on the other the Rio Piedras, where you will find the fishing village of El Rompido. There are several ways of reaching this beach: walking from La Antilla Beach (though this can be somewhat tiring), another is to cross Las Marismas del Catalan by car, or even by swimming from the San Miguel Beach (El Rompido).

La Antilla Beach
Isla Antilla's beach, La Antilla Beach, is extremely wide and the small houses on the urban development of La Antilla reach up to the beach. There is a small, paved sea-front. This is the main beach in Lepe, just 5km from the city - an open-air place by the sea more than 20km long. 60 years of tourist growth in Spain has lead to the development of Lepe as a place of interest. Nowadays, La Antilla Beach is preserving its original family ambience. Although its hotels attract an increased number of foreign tourists, La Antilla is also attracting visitors from Spanish cities (Madrid, Badajoz, Cáceres, Sevilla, Córdoba and, in recent years, a notable increase from the North of Spain) over the last 5 years.

Isla Antilla Beach
Isla Antilla Beach has a large square, with many patios, separating Isla Antilla from La Antilla Beach. It is an extremely wide – blue-flagged - beach, opposite Isla Antilla's recently completed urban development, which includes a golf course. Access is via wooden walkways, which extend to half of the beach.

La Redondela Beach
You can drive very close to La Redondela Beach. From the highway you will see a large area of pines and dunes with picnic tables and seats. For the smallest, there is a small kiddy park. In contrast to other beaches in the area, La Redondela is characterised by lines of protectors from the sand when it is blown by the wind. There is also a wooden footbridge reaching half of the beach. When the tide recedes, there is an enormous area of sand inviting a long walk.
